Frenquently Asked Questions

answers to some frequent questions.

What is Therapeutic Sound or Sound Healing, and how does it work?

Therapeutic Sound (more traditionally known as Sound Healing or a Sound Bath is a nurturing practice that uses sound vibrations to promote relaxation, balance, and well-being. It works by using instruments like singing bowls, chimes, and the human voice to create specific tones and frequencies. These sounds interact with the brain by encouraging it to shift into slower, more relaxed brainwave states (like alpha or theta waves) which are associated with calm, creativity, and deep rest. As the brain responds to these frequencies, the body follows, releasing tension, calming the nervous system, and supporting natural healing processes. It’s a gentle yet powerful way to reset your mind and body, helping you feel more grounded, open, and connected.

How do I know if Therapeutic Sound is a good fit for me?

This service might be right for you if you are a seeker of a supportive space to explore relaxation, self-expression, or personal growth. Sound healing and voice work are ideal for anyone feeling stressed, creatively blocked, or disconnected from themselves. Prior experience is not required. While Sound Journeys are safe and beneficial for most people, there are some situations where caution is advised. Sound therapy may not be suitable for individuals with pacemakers, certain types of epilepsy, or those in the first trimester of pregnancy. Whether you’re looking to calm your mind, process emotions, or strengthen your connection to your voice, these sessions are designed to meet you where you are and guide you toward greater harmony and clarity. If you’re curious but unsure, I’m happy to chat within a discovery call.

How is Voice Work different from traditional singing lessons?

Voice work and singing lessons share some common ground, but differ in approach. Voice Work focuses on using expression as the pathway to expanding upon our voice and while traditional voice lessons solely involve developing technical skills for musical performance. Voice Work involves exercises that help bypass some of the mental and physical blocks associated with creating certain sounds. Sessions are exploratory and progress at the desired pace of participants, offering a space for individuals to be met where they are at.

Can Voice Work help me with public speaking?

Absolutely. Voice work strengthens your vocal presence, clarity, and confidence, making it a valuable tool for public speaking, leadership, and everyday communication.

Can Voice Work be a somatic practice?

Yes, Voice Work can be a deeply somatic practice if that’s what you’re seeking. By focusing on breath, body awareness, and releasing tension, it helps you connect with the physical sensations and emotions that shape your voice. However, if your goal is more about learning how to sing or developing vocal technique, that can be the focus of our work together too. Whether it’s about expression, confidence, or skill-building, the approach is tailored to your needs.
